The people of Gilgit Baltistan were crying to be annexed
with Pakistan or with Kashmir. but Nawaz Khan Naji
introduce a new ideology that the people from Ladakh to
Chitral have a separate identity,ideology,entity that we
have our own languages,culture,race,geography and common
economy but we have never had a separate status. These
areas must first become a separate unit then we will
decide whether we want to go with Pakistan, with Kashmir
or seek independence.
We need a common name Gilgit bBaltistan is disputed not a
common name. This area is the junction of Hamalayas,
Hindukash and Karakrum ranges in between the roof of the
Tibet and Pamir.In the past the area was known as "BALA"
which means high the people were called "BALAWAR" or "HiGHLANDER"
that is why we called the area from Ladakh to Chitral
"BALAWARISTAN" or "HIGHLAND".
The area was once part of Jammu and Kashmir after
partition and the war with India it was occupied by
Pakistan, but it is never described as Azad Kashmir but as
the northern areas by Islamabad which rules it by proxy in
1850. There were three powers in region Dogras, Sikhs and
British.they attack first in Ladakh, then Baltistan then
Gilgit and then Chitral and occupied the area from 1850
to1947.
The region was under KashmirI rules but the people of
region fought to expel to Dograss from Gilgit Baltistan.,
they had a golden chance during partition, when a maharaja
acceded to India at the time our people fought against the
Kashmirs and establishment a free government the REPUBLIC
OF GILGIT" the first president was RAJA SHAH RAISE KHAN,
after 15 days of rule they ask for Pakistan`s help not for
annexation because kashmir had already been annexed by
India. Pakistan official come to Gilgit, Pakistan occupied
the area, expel the prescient because local government was
weak and Gilgit become once again political agency of
Pakistan, like it was agency of British India in the past.
We are not in the constitution of Pakistan, we cannot cast
a vote or stand for parliament post in Pakistan, we cannot
appeal to the supreme cout of Pakistan, and we are
foreigners. Actually it is completely and accaupation
Article of 8 of the agreement signed between Islamabad and
the government of Kashmir,between Mushtaq Ahmed
Gurmani,minister without portfolio,government o f pakistan
Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim president of Azad Kashmir and
Choudhary Gulam Abbas head of Muslim conference.The people
of Gilgit Baltistan don not know then we did not cast a
vote for ghulam abbas or ibrahim, there was no Muslim
conference so how can the head of muslim conference sign a
agreement with pakistan about Balawaristan (Gilgit
Baltistan). Our president was Raja Shah Raise Khan and a
president was Sardar Ibrahim How cam Ibrahim sign a
agreement on Balawaristan.
